MYTHS & FACTS ABOUT INTROVERTS ~~ Knowing People Better!

There are two types of people in this world; those who talk and those who listen; and both are introverts!
There are more stereotypes associated with the word ‘Introvert’ then there are with a female CEO. All my life I have heard ridiculous ‘facts’ associated with my personality type; “Oh, you won’t make a good manager if you are not an extrovert!”, “You don’t have good networking skills because you are an introvert”, and the most ridiculous of all, “You are single because you are an introvert”. The last one really got me, when did people start focusing on personality traits over the most important thing, looks? Was there a meeting? Why wasn’t I invited? Oh, probably because I am an introvert and I would have canceled anyway. I understand that!

This blog is an illumination post for you to understand introverts better.

SOME MYTHS ASSOCIATED WITH INTROVERTS~~

πŸ‘ŽIntroverts live in a dark dungeon and only come out during the night! I think this is true for Vampires. But then again, all the Vampires are introverts!

πŸ‘Ž We hate to party! Come on now, whoever started this rumor is an asshole. We like to dance; we like to party and we can go wild. I got so wild once at a party that I initiated a conversation with 3 guys, on my own!

πŸ‘Ž We don’t like to talk. Do you know how many thoughts go inside my head all time? There are more than 800 words per minute! Do I like to share them all? Of course not! But I definitely want to share some of them with my friends or family or probably the stranger next to me in the metro.

πŸ‘Ž Introverts don’t like making friends. Worst of all! Who doesn’t like to make friends? I love my friends and I definitely like to make more friends. People who don’t like to make friends are called “Asocial” or ‘Antisocial’ depending on whether or not they are serial killers (most of them become serial killers eventually; just kidding).

πŸ‘Ž Introverts lack confidence. It is a common myth that all introverts are low on confidence and thereby are not good at the ‘stage’ skills or presentation skills. Although to be honest, it is a myth most people believe including the introverts. Make a note of this, EVERYONE GETS NERVOUS. Anyone who has to give a presentation for an esteemed jury or even for a bunch of acquaintances are bound to be nervous. Low confidence does not stem from your personality traits. It is generally a product of one's childhood memories and experiences. A person can work to improve their confidence and public speaking skills!

πŸ‘Ž Introverts are boring! On behalf of all humanity, I would like to make this statement; “We all are boring for someone”. Once you get to know a person you will discover who they actually are, and then who knows you are on a secret mission to save the world from aliens.

πŸ‘Ž Introverts read books all the time! A typical introvert day in the head of an extrovert; Wake up, read Newton Laws, Organic Chemistry, Criminal Law, light reading including thriller novels and biographies, sleep. Are you guyyys crazy? Introverts don’t read this much, in one day. I like to divide my day so that I have time to watch Netflix and Prime Video too! Not all introverts are nerds. But all nerds are introverts or extroverts with study groups (which doesn’t count anyway, can’t help the nerds).

πŸ‘Ž All introverts are serious thinkers. Yes, I think a lot. Mostly about food, cute puppies, and what would I call my superhero character? I have narrowed it down to PuppyGirl or CloudWoman. Which one is better?

πŸ‘ Introverts are lonely or sad. No, we are not. In fact, we enjoy a little alone time.

SOME FACTS ABOUT INTROVERTS~~

πŸ‘Introverts are shy. I am shy in front of new people. I tried to overcome that but apparently, I cannot so I made my peace with it. I am fine being goofy around new people. I try to make jokes and often end up saying something stupid like Chandler Bing.

πŸ‘We suck at making friends. But it doesn't imply that we don't want to! It is mostly the product of being shy and goofy. People believe that we have an “attitude problem”. But trust me in our head we are trying to be the friendliest version of a person possible.

πŸ‘Introverts are good listeners. Have you ever struggled to tell your story because you were interrupted continuously? Then you were probably talking to an extrovert. We are so good at listening and remembering stories. I remember all the tiny details about a person's story I spoke to once!!

πŸ‘ We are easy to please. One compliment and I would be smitten by how nice you are for life. Not sure if it is a positive or negative thing!

This blog is not googled or written from any survey! It includes all my personal beliefs and experiences. In the end, all I want to say is I don’t believe in the term ‘Introvert’ or ‘Extrovert’. I also do not believe that a person is entirely an Extrovert or an Introvert. We all are more than just a term in the English Dictionary.
