Anecdotes from my life ~ Working in Retail

Hey, all the people I love!

I missed writing so much and I am so delighted to be writing a blog after a long long time.

My readers have been waiting for my blogs for so long, so here I am sharing the spicy bits and pieces from my ordinary life for both of you (my readers). Love you both!

WORK-LIFE IMBALANCE

I recently started working and I am so delighted that I am finally earning and independent and am doing this standing on my feet thing but boy am I busy!! So now before you retort (in your head) that "Gosh relax Apoorva, everybody is busy"; I am gonna tell you No, you aren't if you don't work in retail! I am not exaggerating at all. I have six days working including the weekends. Now can you imagine what that does to a person in their mid-twenties; you don't have time to hang out with your friends, go on dates, or enjoy life. I nearly missed this debacle since I have no friends to hang with or a love life or life in general so I can't complain here. But still, all this job thing is hampering with my lying around time that I used to enjoy very much. Anyway, my life is turned upside since I am responsible for something outside my house and that is both empowering and scary but mostly busy. I spend my one-off day mostly in my bed with my beloved TV or at a Starbucks 5 minutes from my place. The Starbucks guy is my best friend now and we might end up getting married if things go right.

While I am at my office or the store as we call it in the retail business (because it is a store), I am always working, always, no time waste there. I am the most dedicated employee there ever could be (in case anyone from my workplace reads it, gotta be careful here). I mean don't get me wrong as busy as life gets working in retail, it is pretty entertaining and dynamic. Observing people buying clothes is one of the most exciting things there is in life, some are vulnerable and easily manipulated others are stubborn and angry, most are cheap (no offense). Why do we want discounts so much? Does Elon Musk also want a discount on something already at a 30% discount? I think, yes.

The organizations aren't fooling us with their discounts or vouchers or festive offers. I completely did not over-purchase during the end of season sale. I purchased the right number of jeans, 4. Might have to throw a few clothes from my closet but I ain't gonna be fooled by anyone.

ENTERING 2021

The curse is lifted, we entered a new year. This year is going to be different. I have so many goals and resolutions. I hope to follow through with a few of them, one at least. No matter how weird or scary or boring 2020 was I think we all are grown and matured after the events of the past year. Experiencing a global crisis changes a person no matter how rigid they are! Some learned compassion, some learned to stand up for themselves, and some learned cooking. The world is new!!

Anyway, this was my 2020 in a nutshell~

πŸ’— Started with my first job

πŸ’— Wrote blogs

πŸ’— Wrote poems and attended a poetry workshop

πŸ’— Cut my hair short

πŸ’— Met an old friend after a very long time

πŸ’— Met new people

πŸ’— Lost touch with old friends

πŸ’— Realized the importance of mental and physical health

πŸ’— Had to let go of things that bothered my peace of mind

πŸ’— Read good books

πŸ’— Watched good series

πŸ’— Gazed at clear blue skies in Delhi after a long long time

πŸ’— Went for long walks

πŸ’— Not ashamed to be a dork anymore
